High volumes of holiday traffic are expected approaching and through Blackheath, Mount Victoria and Lithgow during peak holiday travel periods.

When queueing begins eastbound at Mount Victoria, a traffic management plan is put in place to prevent breakdowns on Victoria Pass. Stop/slow traffic conditions will be put in place for eastbound traffic, with traffic controllers on site to direct motorists.

Nightwork will be carried out at Aunty Joan Cooper Bridge between 8pm and 5am from Sunday to Thursday. There will be no nightwork on Friday or Saturday nights or on public holidays.

Use the off-ramp to Leura Mall, then rejoin the highway via the on-ramp.

Vehicles between 15 and 28 tonnes are now able to access the valley with Council permission, under stop/slow conditions.

As the area remains a construction site, safety procedures must be followed.

For vehicles between 15 and 28 tonnes to access the site:

• Please email the Manager Transport and Public Access, Nicole Hume at nhume@bmcc.nsw.gov.au with at least two working days’ notice to obtain a permit for the heavy vehicle access.
• A permit will be required to be carried and shown to traffic control on site. Traffic controllers will then coordinate access through the site.

Please note that if the same vehicle needs to access the valley multiple times, only one permit will be required. Vehicles over 15 tonnes that are not scheduled to enter the valley will be turned back to ensure safety is maintained on site.
